In the 2020 KBL rookie draft, Cha Min-seok was the first high school graduate in KBL to wear a Samsung uniform as the first pick in the first round. He went pro after graduating from high school, so he never had a college life. College players go to college to watch their alma mater’s game after the season, but Cha Min-seok is an exception.
Regarding the reason for visiting Yonsei University, Cha Min-seok said, “I work out with his teammates in the morning, and there is no schedule in the afternoon. There was a match, so he came to Yonsei University with his juniors. Since he was little, he liked Yonsei University,” he explained with a laugh.
Samsung stayed in 10th place this season, ending the season early. Samsung gave the players a vacation, but Cha Min-seok, along with Lee Won-seok and Shin Dong-hyuk, are exercising voluntarily. Of course, he is spending a good vacation by spending time with acquaintances he has not met before.
Cha Min-seok said, “I recently went to Fukuoka. He was selected for the national team and went abroad, but he had never been to Japan. He went with an acquaintance because it was the country he wanted to visit. He is also meeting acquaintances he has not seen. (Lee) Won-seok hyung and (Shin) Dong-hyuk hyung started working out together,” he said.
Among Lee Won-seok, Shin Dong-hyuk, and Cha Min-seok, Cha Min-seok is the youngest, but he is the first to join the pro team.
Cha Min-seok said, “The three of them are similar in age, so there is a part where they fit well. We’ve been working out together since this week. Apparently, since I entered the pro before my brothers, I think I know how to spend the offseason more wisely.”
Cha Min-seok averaged 8 minutes and 53 seconds in 14 games this season, recording 3.3 points and 1.5 rebounds. He couldn’t play many games due to an injury to his foot, but his potential was revealed from the second half of the regular season when he returned. On March 18, against LG, he recorded 15 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist in 22 minutes and 3 seconds.
Cha Min-seok said, “I couldn’t play many games this season due to injury, but I want to prepare well for the new season without getting hurt. If you follow the director’s instructions, there will be no problem.”
