New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino’s first knife has been unveiled.
‘Portugal’s future’ Joao Felix (23) returns to his original team, Atlético Madrid (Spain). Chelsea signed Felix in the winter transfer window in January.
Atletico Madrid paid £10 million (approximately 16.4 billion won) of rent. 100% of his salary was paid by Chelsea.안전놀이터
Instead of going on loan to Chelsea, Felix extended his contract with Atletico Madrid until 2027. However, it was not easy for Felix to adapt to the English Premier League (EPL). He appeared in 16 EPL matches and scored only 4 goals.
Manager Pochettino was not satisfied either. Coincidentally, Chelsea’s refusal to transfer Felix was revealed through Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo.
Cerezo announced: “We have been informed that Pochettino’s Chelsea team will not include Felix. Felix will be back. Nothing is planned for Feliz yet.”
Chelsea spent about £600m (approximately 985 billion won) in the two transfer windows this season, but had the worst season. Two managers, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Porter, were sacked. Chelsea legend coach Frank Lampard took the temporary helm at the last minute, but stayed in 12th place in the EPL.
Felix also failed to become a reversal card. Manager Pochettino’s first task is to reduce the size of the team that has become huge.
Cleaning up Felix is just the beginning. Mateo Kovacic, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech, Conor Gallagher and Kalidou Koulibaly are also on the list for release.
