SSG Landers added a rare victory amidst the performance of young catcher Cho Hyung-woo and center fielder Choi Ji-hoon, who filled the spot of injured Choi Ji-hoon.
Doosan showed a lethargic appearance in the offense and defense, and fell into a swamp of 4 consecutive losses, the most since Lee Seung-yeop took over.
SSG defeated Doosan 10-4 in the professional baseball 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League home game held at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 29th and kept the lead.
SSG center fielder Choi Ji-hoon, who had been very active in air defense, missed the first-team entry because of an ankle injury that day.
However,메이저놀이터 Choi Sang-min, who started in place of Choi Ji-hoon, made a big success with 2 hits, 1 walk and 2 points in 4 at-bats. Choi Sang-min, who joined SSG as a foster player in 2018 and debuted in the first team last year, hit his first individual multi-hit (two or more hits in one game).
Catcher Cho Hyung-woo, born in 2002, also went 4 at-bats, 2 hits and 1 RBI.
On the other hand, Doosan’s pitchers allowed 9 pitches, and the fielders made mistakes and destroyed themselves.
SSG took a chance at the bottom of the first inning when lead batter Choo Shin-soo walked on base.
Doosan right fielder José Rojas missed Joo-Hwan Choi’s normal fly ball, and SSG continued to have opportunities for 1st and 2nd base safely.
Choi Jeong-ui’s infield grounder in front of third baseman was also unable to connect with Doosan’s infield due to double play.
SSG scored two points with a double that fell to Guillermo Heredia’s priority in the ensuing one out, first and third base.
Doosan made up for one point with a wild throw from SSG starter Oh Won-seok, who came out with one out and bases loaded at the beginning of the second inning.
However, SSG scored an extra point thanks to the performance of the ‘rookie duo’.
When Choi Sang-min went to base with a right-handed hit, Cho Hyung-woo brought Choi Sang-min home with a double through the middle of the right.
In the top of the 4th inning, Doosan got a chance to run 1 out and 1st and 3rd base due to SSG shortstop Seong-Han Park’s catch error, but Jae-Suk Ahn struck out and Su-Bin Jung stepped away with a floating ball to left field and failed to score.
SSG scored consecutively in the 4th and 5th innings and consolidated the victory.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, Joo-hwan Choi hit an RBI double with 1 out, 1st and 2nd base, flying toward the right fielder, and when Choi Jeong-ui grounded in the infield, Doosan second baseman Kang Seung-ho’s home throw was slightly biased towards 1st base, and SSG gained an additional point. Heredia’s shortstop grounder homered one more runner.
In the bottom of the 5th inning, with 2nd out, 1st and 3rd base, Kang Seung-ho fumbled for Choo Shin-soo’s ground ball and contributed 1 run.
In the following two outs, 1st and 2nd base, Doosan left fielder Song Seung-hwan missed Choi Joo-hwan’s ball and gave up another 1 point. Joo-Hwan Choi’s batted ball was treated as a ‘hit’ by the scorer who judged that Seung-Hwan Song was obstructed by the lighting tower, but it was a disappointing defense for Doosan.
SSG faced cleaning time (after the bottom of the 5th inning) with an 8-1 lead. It was a difficult gap for Doosan to catch up.
